Overview

WLE1040 is our heavy-duty silicone filled waterproof wire nut for demanding outdoor jobs and multi-conductor splices. The large shell (Ø20.5 × 41 mm) provides high tightening torque and extra sealant volume. During installation, the neutral silicone wets the copper and fills voids to create a continuous moisture barrier, delivering long-term protection in wet or corrosive environments.

Electrical rating: 600V building wire (1000V max for signs/luminaires). Typical wire range: AWG #22 – up to #6 (depends on insulation OD). Temperature rating: 105 °C. Silicone usable range: −45 °F ~ 400 °F. Copper-to-copper only.

Why Choose WLE1040

  • Heavy-duty capacity: supports broader wire mixes and higher torque requirements.
  • Waterproof assurance: factory silicone fill blocks moisture and corrosive ingress.
  • Streamlined workflow: twist to clamp and seal — no heat tools or additional gel packs.
  • Wide service window: 105 °C body rating; sealant usable from −45 °F to 400 °F.
  • Series consistency: aligned 600V/1000V ratings with WLE1010/1011/1020/1030.
  • Field-ready grip: aggressive ribs deliver consistent torque in damp conditions.

Examples are indicative. Actual capacity varies with insulation OD, strand tightness, and available box space. Always perform a pull test after installation.

Installation (Copper/Copper)

  1. Strip per gauge; keep strands neat and free of nicks.
  2. Align conductors parallel with even tips; do not pre-twist.
  3. Twist-on the WLE1040 until firm resistance; silicone will flow to seal the splice.
  4. Pull test each conductor; re-terminate if any movement is detected.
  5. Enclose the splice inside a suitable junction box; avoid sharp edges contacting the shell.
Safety: for copper-to-copper only. Not for aluminum or mixed metals. Follow local electrical codes.

Applications

  • High-wattage outdoor and architectural lighting
  • Signage and display wiring (up to 1000V max)
  • Irrigation/yard control boxes and damp-location junctions
  • Service/maintenance splices in cabinets and enclosures

FAQ

What differentiates WLE1040?
The large body and higher sealant volume support heavier wire mixes and tougher outdoor conditions.
Do I need additional tape?
The silicone fill provides the seal; extra tape is typically unnecessary unless required by code.
Can it be reused?
For best reliability, use a new connector after removal.
Aluminum conductors?
No — copper-to-copper only.
